Matthew 5:5

(We will be studying the eight beatitude statements given during the Sermon on the Mount.)

Reading

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go!" ~Dr. Seuss

For the next couple weeks, we will be reading and writing different kinds of poetry! We will be studying a new class poem every day and learning how to look for themes, symbols, and images out of poetry. We will also learn a new kind of poem to write everyday. By the end of this unit, students will have created their very own poetry collection and will hopefully become a well versed poet!

Choice Book

Research shows that one of the most effective ways to become a good reader is simply to READ MORE! Therefore, I believe it is essential that students are reading quality books outside of class in addition to the book we are reading in class. The choice book allows students to choose books of their personal interests and share them with the class in their own creative way!

Students need to select their choice book and get it approved by a parent and myself by: Friday, February 12 2010.

Students need to finish reading their book by: Friday, March 5, 2010.

Book report due: Friday, March 12, 2010.
